Ek Haseena Thi is a 2004 Indian Hindi crime thriller film directed by Mohit Suri. The story revolves around the murder of a woman who is about to give birth, and the investigator's search for her missing child. The film stars Udita Goswami as Ira Dixit, an investigative journalist on maternity leave (on suspicion of pregnancy) who investigates the crime; Neil Nitin Mukesh as Amritpal Singh Pagal, a simpleton with an artistic bent; and Shreyas Talpade as Inspector Manoj Kumar Sharma, who heads the investigation. Now, Inspector Sharma has his next task to crack the case and bring back his son to him. "Ek Haseena Thi" received positive reviews from critics who appreciated the performances of Udita Goswami, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Shreyas Talpade. The film won the Best Film Award at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2005. The film was later dubbed into Tamil (as "Naan Irukkan Madhurai") by VS in 2006 starring newcomers Karthi and Arya in lead roles.
